“Bad day at the office!” That is how Coach Vincent summarized the match in Voi. The team had
played very well to the point that the home crowd had first gone silent then turned their support
to the visiting Eagles.

Coming from a solid 2-0 win in our last match against Mshomoroni United we felt well prepared
for the away trip to Voi to face Teita Estate. We looked forward to turning our poor away form
that dogged us the whole of last season where we just managed to collect 2 wins out of 10.

The home team, Teita, started strongly but we weathered the storm and imposed our will on the
game. We had a large percentage of the ball in possession but our conversion was poor in front of
goal. We didn’t make the keeper make a save.

We let in cheap goals especially the first goal that was a long range strike that the keeper could
have kept out. We went 1-0 down in the first half. In the second half we suffered a red card and
then let in another 3 goals, 2 of which were easy to defend.

At the end of day we got beaten on the counter with the 1 less player making it difficult for us to
get back in the game. Teita were very clinical and took their chances while we weren’t as sharp
in our attack.

One Teita Estate fan declared of their team, “We are going to get hammered on the return game
in Mombasa.”

We shall take this encouragement with us
